AJ's 1981 320i (e21)

Rebuilding the E21 chassis.

Project E21 documents the restoration and evolution of my 1981 BMW 320i. What started as a classic E21 has grown into a carefully built driver's car, now powered by a BMW M42B18 engine and supported by upgraded suspension, polyurethane bushings, chassis bracing, custom fabrication, and countless hours of maintenance and restoration. Every modification and repair is documented as I continue building the car into the E21 I've always envisioned.

Bespoke Fabrication

Period-Correct Assembly

We strip the body to bare steel, measuring tolerances on a precision jig to correct decades of road wear before any fabrication begins. This ensures a perfectly square foundation for high-performance driving.

Every bracket, gusset, and reinforcement plate is designed in-house and CNC-machined to ensure absolute structural rigidity. We utilize aerospace-grade alloys to withstand extreme mechanical stress.

We source and refine classic hardware, combining vintage aesthetics with modern metallurgy for an uncompromised analog drive. The result is a period-correct feel with modern structural reliability.
